BIT Mesra offers comprehensive academic programs across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. The institute features 19 academic departments including Architecture and Planning, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Space Engineering and Rocketry, and Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics. The main campus is located in Ranchi, Jharkhand, in a region known for natural beauty with forests, mountains, and waterfalls. The institute provides state-of-the-art facilities including advanced laboratories with high-end servers, a central library with print and digital resources, sports facilities, health services, transport services, and a canteen. Additional facilities include a Central Instrumentation Facility, post office, railway counter, and anti-ragging cell.
BIT Mesra conducts admissions for various programs through online application procedures. Candidates must fulfill eligibility criteria and can apply for multiple programs. The institute offers NRI/OCI/SFFS quota seats at the main Mesra campus. Selection procedures vary by program and are published on the admission website. Admission office operates Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM IST. Application fees are paid online via credit/debit card or netbanking.
The institute maintains a strong research portfolio with ongoing sponsored projects funded by agencies including ANRF, DRDO, ISRO, DHR, and ICMR. Research areas span high-power wireless chargers for electric vehicles, biosensors, hybrid rocket applications, space engineering, machine learning for disease detection, and green hydrogen production. The institute supports entrepreneurship through its Entrepreneurship Cell and maintains industry collaborations for applied research.
