Academics
Bishop Moore College offers 11 undergraduate degree programmes and 6 postgraduate programmes across arts, commerce, and science disciplines. The college regularly produces university toppers in both UG and PG examinations. From 2024-25, the college introduced the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP), providing students flexibility to choose from 15 minor disciplines, 43 multidisciplinary courses, 30 ability enhancement courses, 42 skill enhancement courses, and 35 value addition courses. Undergraduate science programmes are supported by the STAR College Scheme of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.
Research & Innovation
The college maintains dedicated research centres including CAFM (Physics Research Centre) and CNHMR (Chemistry Research Centre). Research facilities are offered to other institutions, and students have opportunities to conduct summer projects. The college supports both minor and major research projects and maintains an active publication record through newsletters and academic publications.
Campus & Infrastructure
The college is located in Mavelikara, Alappuzha District, Kerala. Sr. Rachel Joseph Hostel for Women, constructed in 1972, provides accommodation for 63 undergraduate and postgraduate women students from coastal and remote areas of Alappuzha and Kollam districts. The campus includes dedicated research facilities, library services, and sports infrastructure.
Student Support & Activities
The college provides comprehensive student support through NSS, NCC, college union, and various clubs. Scholarships are available to eligible students. The college organizes capacity building programmes, international linkage initiatives, and hosts events like the Stars of Moore contest, EXIMOS (Exhibition of Moore Skills), and various seminars and conferences throughout the academic year.
Admissions
The college conducts separate UG and PG admissions. The Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) offers students the flexibility to graduate with a 4-year Honours with Research Degree, 4-year Honours Degree, or 3-year Undergraduate Degree. Internship opportunities are integrated into the programme. Hostel admission is available for eligible women students.
