Maryland's only state-sponsored community college, serving Baltimore since 1947 with career and transfer pathways.
BCCC offers associate degrees, certificates, and career pathways across diverse disciplines including business, biotechnology, computer information systems, allied health services, and arts & sciences transfer programs. The college provides remedial education, ESL pathways, and dual enrollment options for high school students. Notable programs include the Life Sciences Institute at University of Maryland BioPark, one of the nation's oldest community college biotechnology training centers, and the National Weatherization Training Center, one of only 26 such centers in the U.S.
BCCC operates five major locations: Liberty Heights Campus (main), Downtown Harbor Campus in the Inner Harbor, Reisterstown Plaza Campus, Life Sciences Institute at UM BioPark, and the National Weatherization Training Center in East Baltimore. The Liberty Campus provides childcare, library services, and a fitness center. Students can participate in athletics (basketball, cross country) through the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference, join clubs and organizations, and access support services including disability services, tutoring, and career development.
BCCC welcomes domestic, international, transfer, and veteran students. The college offers placement testing (Accuplacer), the Mayor's Scholars Program for high-achieving Baltimore City residents, and the Granville T. Woods Scholars Program providing full scholarships with laptop computers and study abroad opportunities. Support services include TRIO/SSS-STAIRS, Upward Bound Math & Science, disability services, and a student emergency loan program.
The Granville T. Woods Scholars Program awards full scholarships to high-achieving Baltimore City students (3.0+ GPA, 1000+ SAT or 21+ ACT) and facilitates transfer to four-year institutions including Morgan State University. In 2015, NASA selected BCCC as one of five institutions to share $6 million for STEM educator training and course expansion through the Minority University Research and Education Project (MUREP).
