Andover College began as the Andover Institute of Business in Portland in 1967 and was renamed Andover College in 1977. The institution received accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) in 1998. In 2005, the college was acquired by Kaplan Higher Education Corporation and integrated into the Kaplan Higher Education Campuses division. The institution was subsequently rebranded as Kaplan University, South Portland Campus in 2010.
The college operated campuses in South Portland and Lewiston, Maine. The South Portland campus served as the primary location, with coordinates at 43.63895°N, 70.3239°W.
