Catholic junior college in rural Indiana, merged into Marian University in 2021.
Ancilla College was founded in 1937 by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ as an extension of DePaul University for training Catholic novices and candidates. The college's name derives from the Latin word 'ancilla,' meaning 'handmaid or servant,' reflecting its religious sponsor. Beginning in 1966, the college opened admissions to the general public and operated as a private liberal arts community college. In 2021, Ancilla College was merged into Marian University, a fellow Catholic institution based in Indianapolis, becoming a regional campus.
Ancilla College granted associate degrees across multiple programs and maintained transfer agreements with 14 Indiana colleges and universities, facilitating student pathways to four-year institutions. The college focused on serving the seven surrounding counties of Indiana with accessible, affordable higher education.
The Ancilla Chargers competed in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). The college fielded teams in soccer, volleyball, baseball, and softball, with games broadcast by the Regional Radio Sports Network.
