Ananda College is founded and managed by the R.C. Diocese of Sivagangai. It is a Roman Catholic minority, co-educational and self-supporting institution. The college is open to students irrespective of caste, creed and culture. Its postal address is Post Box No. 3, Devakottai Ext, Devakottai - 630303, Sivagangai District.

History

The college was founded in the year 2004, according to the principal's message. The principal's message notes that it started with a few hundred students and has since grown considerably year after year.

Mission and Motto

The college's motto is "Shine in Love" (அன்பில் ஒளிர). It aims at forming the youth of the Christian minority. Its vision is to form students to face the challenges of life in a dignified manner, esteeming fellow humans and the world as sacred. One stated mission is to inculcate academic excellence and a sense of social justice, responsibility, compassion, sensitivity and concern towards everyone in society.

Location and Campus

The college campus covers a vast area of 25 acres within the jurisdiction of Devakottai municipality (Devakottai Extension). It is situated on National Highway No. 210, between the twin towns of Karaikudi and Devakottai. The home page lists 100 classrooms and labs and states that 800 students are educated per year. Listed facilities include the Gabriela Library, a library book bank section, a library automation system, Josef Hostel for Men and Josefine Hostel for Women.
