History
Agra College was established in 1823 A.D. through the pioneering efforts of Sanskrit scholar and astrologer Pandit Gangadhar Shastri. It functioned as a Government College till 1883, after which its management was handed over to a Board of Trustees and a Committee of Management, both approved by the Government. The college celebrated its centenary in 1924. It was originally affiliated to Calcutta University, then to Allahabad University from 1887 to 1926, and since 1927 to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra (formerly known as Agra University).
Academics
The college had four faculties: Science, Arts, Fine Arts and Law. The Faculty of Engineering and Technology was added in 1999 under the self-finance scheme and is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It is affiliated to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (formerly UPTU), Lucknow. The college offers a three-year Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) course, a two-year Master of Laws (LL.M) course, and a four-year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) course.
